The judges were enthusiastic about this primary cross, which, although registered in 1895, had received no prior awards, and they agreed it represented "a clear improvement over both species." They admired the clear, even color of the segments and the flat petals despite the L. tenebrosa parent, which usually imparts recurved petals to progeny. One additional flower and a darker pink color on the lip could have elevated the score.

Acinetia beyrodtiana 'Caudebec' CHM/AOS (82 points)
The judges awarded Acineta beyrodtiana a CHM to recognize the fine quality of this unusual plant that was well grown with full flowers that showed good consistent color and spotting. Minor damage to some flowers and the relatively low number of flowers precluded a flower award. Several of the judges had seen plants with several spikes in cultivation in Ecuador,. The judges felt that the example in front of them was a first bloom plant that had the potential for a flower award in the future.
